Safewalk

Campus Safety is available for safewalks any where on campus.  There is an emergency phone located in the northeast corner of the Grubbs parking lot; just push the bottom button on the phone and it calls campus safety.

Campus Telephones

There is an emergency phone located in the northeast corner of the Grubbs parking lot; pushing the bottom button on the phone calls campus safety.  Emergencies may also be reported on any campus phone.  Please dial ext. 9911 and inform the Campus Safety Dispatcher of the nature and location of the emergency.

Resident Assistant Program

Resident assistants are offered training on security issues they may face.

There are several security alarm systems that are monitored and responded to by Campus Safety personnel.

Brochures and other printed materials about crime prevention are available from the Campus Safety Office.

Awareness Presentations

Speakers are available to give awareness presentations to your group or department about sexual assault, theft prevention, violent crimes, domestic violence, alcohol and drugs, personal safety, emergency preparedness and other safety topics.

Whistle Program

This free service is available to all female students; however, men can participate as well.  On-campus residents should see their RAs to receive a whistle and/or further information, and commuters should contact the Campus Safety Department.

Vehicle Assistance

The Campus Safety department is equipped to offer assistance with minor vehicle problems, such as a battery jump.  For such problems as keys locked in a vehicle or more serious vehicle problems, safety personnel are available to make the necessary call to secure a locksmith or road assistance.

Crime Alert Notice

When circumstances warrant, Crime Alert Bulletins are released by the Department of Campus Safety to warn the University community of special crime-related conditions.

Weapons

Possession, use, or threatened use of firearms, fireworks, ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or any other objects as weapons on university property or at university-sponsored or supervised activities, except as expressly authorized by law or university regulation, are prohibited. Professional law enforcement officers are the only persons permitted to possess firearms while on campus. Concealed weapons are prohibited.

Door Lock/Unlock Services

Campus Safety recommends that students lock their rooms when they are not present and carry their keys at all times. If you have been locked out of your room please contact your Resident Assistant to open your room. If you can not find your RA you may then call your Residence Director for assistance. If you are unable to contact your RD please call Campus Safety at ext. 2911 for an unlock. . If Campus Safety is required to open your door then a $5.00 fee will be charged. You will be asked to show your student ID to verify that you have been assigned to the room before the officer will unlock the door. Unauthorized access to other student's rooms is strictly forbidden.

A person requesting access to a building / office must show, on request of the Campus Safety Officer, a valid Simpson University Identification Card. Out of professional courtesy, Campus Safety Officers will not allow a professor or staff member access into the office of another Simpson employee. Departments must supply the Campus Safety Department a list, After Hours Access list, of students allowed into classrooms / offices for the purpose of work or class projects. Departments should include on the list approved access for Faculty / Staff into offices of other employees. It is the responsibility of the departments to keep the approval list up-to-date. All persons granted access into buildings / rooms are responsible to deny access to unapproved persons

Safety Equipment Monitoring

Campus Safety monitors the security lights, parking lot lights, and sidewalk lights to make sure the students have a safe and secure path of travel.
