General Provisions

All Simpson University employees and students who have a motorized vehicle on campus must have a parking permit.   All parking permits should be acquired by no later than the second week of employment or of attendance of any semester of school.

Simpson University Vehicle Parking Policy

bulletAll faculty, staff and student vehicles must be registered with the Campus Safety office.  Students register at the beginning of each semester during the registration process.
bulletThe university provides several parking lots on campus.  They are color-coded.  Vehicles should be parked only in the parking lot that has the same color as their permit.
bulletParking on campus streets is not permitted.
bulletThe campus speed limit is 15 m.p.h.
bulletVehicles are to be operated only on the streets and in the designated parking areas.  Violation of parking regulations will result in a fine.  Repeated violations will result in a loss of the privilege to park on campus.
bulletVisitor parking is available in posted areas of all lots.
bulletSimpson University Traditional Undergraduate Students (Fall and Spring Semesters):
  1. Pay stated rate per semester (Fall and Spring).
  2. Will be issued a new permit each new semester.  By its color, this permit will indicate the parking lot or lots where they are allowed to park.
bulletSimpson University Graduate School of Ministry Students:
  1. Students can receive a temporary parking permit at the Theology and Ministry office (1st floor, LaBaume Rudat). These permits will designate where modular students can park.
bulletSimpson University ASPIRE Students:
  1. Pay stated rate per semester (Fall, Spring, & Summer).
  2. Will be issued one permit at the beginning of each semester.  By its color, this permit will indicate the parking lot or lots where they are allowed to park.
bulletSimpson University Education Students:
  1. Pay Stated rate per semester (Fall, Spring, & Summer).
  2. Will be issued one permit at the beginning of each semester.  By its color, this permit will indicate the parking lot or lots where they are allowed to park.
bulletVisitors:
  1. Visitors can receive a temporary parking permit from the Campus Safety office or from the department they are visiting.

Parking Lot Designations/Assignments:

bulletGreen:
bulletThe parking lots in front of the resident halls, and a designated portion of Grubbs Center parking lot (located in the north east portion of the lot) are for students who live in the resident halls.
bulletRed:
bulletThe following parking lots are for Commuter Students and Dining Center employees:
bulletFront of the Heritage Center
bulletThe gravel lot adjacent to Modular 8
bulletA designated portion of the lot north of the Grubbs Center (north side)
bulletBlue:
bulletThe following parking lots are for Faculty, Staff, ASPIRE students, Credentialing students and Education students:
bulletThe lot west of the Grubbs Center
bulletA designated portion of the lot north of the Grubbs center (north side)
bulletThe lot southeast of (behind) the Heritage Center
bulletOpen Parking:
bulletAny person with a green, red, or blue parking permit may park in the gravel parking lot on the south side of the Heritage Center (Shasta view side).

Violation Fees (1st violation of each):

Restricted Parking - Handicapped $100.00
Reckless Driving $100.00
Excessive Speed $100.00
Failure to Stop at Posted Stop Sign $15.00
Permit required/no permit displayed $15.00
Permit not valid in this area $15.00
Parking outside of marked parking stall $15.00
Parking in an undesignated area $15.00

Unauthorized parking in a RESERVED or DESIGNATED stall

$15.00
Parking along Curb or on Campus Street $15.00
Passing a Moving Vehicle $15.00

Repeat Citation Policy (above violations except numbers 1, 2, and 3, which remain at $100 for each occurrence):

Second Citation $30.00
Third Citation $45.00
Fourth Citation (and thereafter) $100.00

Enforcement Procedure:

bulletThe enforcement process begins when a ticket is issued.
bulletThe recipient of the ticket can either appeal the ticket or pay it. (All appeals must be made within 7 days of issuance of the ticket to the Campus Safety office.)
bulletAppeal Process:
  1. Written appeal submitted to the Campus Safety department.
  2. Verbal appeal before the Campus Safety Manager or his/her designee.  (This committee will be established at the time of appeal.)
bulletIf a violation goes uncontested for 7 days, the appropriate charge for the violation will either be billed to the violator’s account if they are a student, or it will be deducted from their payroll if they are an employee of the university.
bulletRepeated parking violations or any moving vehicle violations may result in the loss of a student’s privilege to use his/her vehicle on Simpson University property.
