Camp Guidelines
SIMPSON CAMP/RETREAT SUPERVISION GUIDELINES
CONFERENCE SERVICES OF SIMPSON COLLEGE
Youth Camp/Sports Camp Representative/
Head Coach-Senior Staff Responsibilities
- Be available during check-in and
checkout to assist with problems and questions.
- Be in the building and visible
whenever camp participants return to the residence and through
the night.
- Assist dorm staff with enforcement
of camp, Residential Life, and College regulations.
- Maintain conduct and other problems
experienced by camp participants.
- Maintain nightly bed checks.
(If bed checks are required by the camp)
- Report any facility or maintenance
problems to the Dorm Host or Conference Services Coordinator at
the time of check-in. Notify the Conference Services Coordinator
or Director if this situation changes during the camp.
- There will be at least one representative
or coach assigned for each residence floor occupied by camp participants.
Residential Floor Staff Responsibilities
(18 year old min. requirement)
- Enforce College, Conference Service,
and camp policies in the residence halls.
- Inform Camp Representatives of
conduct and other problems with camp participants.
- We suggest client plan activities
for camp participants when they return to the residence hall after
camp programs.
- Conduct nightly bed checks (if
bed checks are required by the camp).
- Respond to emergency medical
or other problems involving camp participants.
- Check on campers’ curfew
no later than midnight.
- Check condition of rooms prior
to check-in and after camp participants checkout of the hall.
Dining Hall Responsibilities
- All Staff and Campers are to
bus own trays and dishes and tables.>
- Any large spills are to be
reported to kitchen staff or conference services staff immediately.
- Please allow for all campers
in your group to get thru the food line once before going for
seconds.
- Please put silverware in tubs
by kitchen tray drop off and place paper ware in trash before
placing trays in tray slots.
qPlease report any outage of food or drink immediately to kitchen
or Conference Services staff.
- Please enter dining hall only
thru the main doors so that you may be properly counted.
- If dissatisfied with food or
drink items please report to Chef or Conference Services staff
on duty immediately. No extra food is to be taken out of dining
hall.
- No running in dining hall or
throwing of food/drinks will be tolerated. Camp staff will need
to accompany campers during all meals.
EXPECTATIONS AND REGULATIONS FOR SUMMER
CAMPS
CONFERENCE SERVICES SIMPSON COLLEGE
- All
participants have the right to be able to sleep, to expect others
to refrain from shouting in the hallways, lounges, on public areas
from slamming doors, and to tactfully confront inappropriate behavior
of fellow participants without negative reactions.
- All participants must be in their
Residence Hall and quiet by midnight.
- After the residence hall doors
are locked at 12AM., no pizza or other deliveries will be accepted.(If
food is ordered for delivery, this information should be told to
dorm host when the order is made.)
- Drinking and/or possession of
alcoholic beverages, narcotic/addictive drugs, and other controlled
substances are strictly prohibited in the residence halls, College
buildings and on College property.
- Gambling, involving any exchange
of money whether with cards, betting, dice, etc., is not permitted
in any residence hall.
- Visitation by members of the
opposite sex is not permitted on the floors or in the rooms of participants.
- Window screens must remain securely
fastened to the window frames in the residence halls. Participants
who remove their screens will be subject to a $15.00 replacement
fee.
- Nothing may be thrown from windows
or balconies in the residence halls.
- Sports (such as football, wrestling,
water fights, Frisbee, bouncing balls, etc.) and running in the
hallways is not permitted. (Water pistols will be confiscated and
returned when participants check out.)
- Vandalism, or the purposeful
destruction of residence hall/ College property is not acceptable
behavior in the residence halls. The cost incurred by such behavior
and other damages accidentally incurred will be the responsibility
of the camp. All attempts will be made to identify the participant(s)
involved and report the name(s) to the appropriate representative.
- Radios, tape players, stereos,
etc. should be played at a volume that does not disturb others and
that cannot be heard outside of the room.
- Smoking (of legal tobacco) is
not permitted on campus property or buildings.
- Firearms, fireworks, weapons,
etc. are not permitted in the residence or on College property. Any
found will be confiscated and security will be notified.
- Furniture in individual room
and lounges should not be removed from their assigned locations.
- Tampering with fire equipment
and fire alarms is prohibited. RELATED INFORMATION/POLICIES/EXPECTATIONS
- Telephones are available in the
lobby for outgoing collect and local calls.
- If given keys; lock your door
when you are out of the building, sleeping, in the bathroom, down
the hall, or only next door (Your personal safety is important and
thefts can take only a few seconds).
- Keep the shower curtains inside
the shower to prevent flooding.
- Please report a lost key to the
dorm host to obtain a replacement key. The replacement fee of $20.00
must be paid before a new key is issued. The same fee will be assessed
for keys not returned upon check out. (If applicable)
- Any custodial or maintenance
problems should be reported to Conference Services.
- Emergency procedures are posted
on dorm mirrors. Please read carefully.
- The college reserves the right
to enter all facilities with a master key if deemed necessary at
any time.
- Items lost and found may be picked
up at the Conference Services Department. Items found after the event
will be turned over to Conference Services.
- When checking out, please leave
all linens on the bed (If applicable).
- Contact any residence host or Conference Service staff member
for information or assistance at any time.
NOTE: Any violation of the above expectations
or policies or generally inappropriate behavior may result in the
participant being removed from the residence hall. If Conference
Services determines that a participant should be removed from the
hall, it will become the responsibility of the camp to identify
a place of residence off the College campus or send the participant
home immediately.
